LERC Concludes Inaugural Vacation Jobs Initiative, Commits to Annual Program

The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) has concluded its inaugural vacation jobs initiative, providing university students from across Liberia with an opportunity to gain practical work experience and firsthand knowledge of the electricity regulatory sector.

The two-month initiative saw students assigned to various departments at LERC, where they gained practical experience and enhanced their understanding of electricity regulation, professional ethics, and the operations of the Commission.

As part of the program, the students also visited the Mount Coffee Hydro Plant in Harrisburg, gaining firsthand exposure to electricity generation and the operations of one of Liberia’s key power facilities.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of Commissioners, Hon. Amara M. Kamara commended the students for their commitment and active participation throughout the program.

 

He reaffirmed LERC’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Liberians to develop professional skills and gain practical workplace experience.

Hon. Kamara also announced that the vacation jobs initiative will now be held annually, making the inaugural program the foundation of a continuing effort by LERC to support youth development and prepare students for future careers.

Commissioner Cllr. Kla-Edward Toomey II presented certificates of acknowledgment to the students in recognition of their successful completion of the program.

The interns expressed appreciation to LERC for the opportunity, noting that the experience broadened their knowledge and provided valuable exposure to the professional environment.

They pledged to serve as ambassadors of LERC by sharing the knowledge and experience gained during their time with the Commission.
